What is the best currency to bring to Cancun - USD or Pesos?

I am travelling from th UK to Cancun later this year and I was wondering what is the best currency USD or Pesos? I know a lot of the tours etc accept USD, what about the flea markets though? and tips for staff? nightclubs? restuarants?

Also would you suggest taking cash, travellers cheques or cards?|||It is cheaper to buy pesos in Mexico rather than in the U.S.A., unless you live on the border; but you would already know than.

It is best to use an ATM machine, but have back up in cash.|||I always take about 5000 pesos with me, and also travellers cheques, plus a visa card, and debit card. With travellers cheques, I take $2000 Canadian. That's for two of us, and I always end up with money left over.

When getting pesos, try and get small denominations such as 20 peso bills, these are great for tips. Most resorts will change Eros for pesos. If you use USD at the flea markets, they will give you change in pesos. Tours, I always use a credit card. Night clubs, cash a travellers cheque to pesos before you go out. Also the same with restaurants.

If you are staying at a good resort, you may find the night club and restaurants there more to your liking. The resort we go to has everything. The only other thing we do, is go out on tour.|||Some establishments will offer you a higher exchange rate for your dollars than the Casa de Cambio ( change booths). others much less it is best to check first. If you go shopping in the big chain stores like Wal-Mart you will get a better exchange rate. The best place to change your money are the banks but many times the lines are long. The best time to change your money is Monday through Thursday avoid Friday Saturday and Sunday. Those days give you the lowest exchange rates.

The exchange rate today at the bank for dollars is $1.00=12.76 pesos $1 euro=15.10

Take a mix Traveler's checks are the safest some cash and a credit and hide one card for emergencies.

Tips are for all people who help you here. Most hospitality workers make 80 to 100 pesos a day for 10 hours of work 6 days a week. 15 to 20% is good tip

Everyone here likes dollars but your exchange may varie bring dollars or maximum $5 or 10 dollar bills avoid 20's 50's and 100's which are sometimes hard to change at most stores. You will get back pesos in the transaction at most places.

隆隆 Hola y Bienvendos a Mexico!!

Before you use an ATM machine check with your local bank as which one to use: The Mexican bank will charge you a fee as well as your bank will charge you an international fee. In Mexico a private person can buy an ATM ( Costco and Sam's Club sell them) machine and charge what they want so make sure it is not a private machine.|||You will pay less if you spend pesos in most cases. Plus if you change from pounds to dollars and then to pesos you will lose a few % with each time you change your money so skip the US dollars.

If it were me, I'd bring a small amount in pesos and just withdraw pesos from any bank machine once in Cancun. You'll pay a fee but it's about the same as it would cost to buy travelers cheques and a lot less hassle.|||If you know how to use weights, then change your dollars for pesos.

But if you can not does not matter because in the handle Cancun prices in dollars.

In fact when people are going to buy national or dinner at the hotel zone, we must ask about is the dollar change because the prices are in U.S. dollars..

Truly is the same, do not charge for more or less to pay in pesos or dollars. is the same, depending on the type of change.

Ranging between approximately 12.50 and 12.80|||I would say Pesos, because if you pay in USD, it would probably be more expensive then it really needs to be - the people on the tours have to change the USD into Pesos. So, go with Pesos, if you're coming from the UK.|||pesos, like others have said if u take USD you will be paying a bit more than what it really costs.
