What is the buying power of the USD in Costa Rica?
I am going on holiday with a few of my friends to Costa Rica. The USD currently gets 517 Costa Rican Colones to 1 US dollar. I don't imagine that the buying power is 1 to 1, so could someone please enlighten me as to what the buying power of a US dollar will be in Costa Rica?|||I think their price level is for 10~15% below US level.|||Currently the exchange rate is at 560 colones to the dollar and rising. In Costa Rica buying power of the US dollar varies because it is very strong for Costa Rican national products but not so strong for imported goods. A pineapple here sells for $1 while an iphone sells for $900.
